Maã Bowman
Maã began her path to helping others, ultimately becoming an alkaline nutritionist in 1973 during her travels to Mexico with her then-husband Dr. Sebi. During this time in the early 1970s is when Maã and Dr. Sebi began to design their patented “African Bio-mineral Balance" and "Intracellular Cleansing" approach to herbology.

In the late 70s, the duo cured their first patient of blindness in Los Angeles, California, leading to an invitation to the Caribbean island of Dominica to direct a groundbreaking hospital to be built, using their philosophy of treating illnesses. Unfortunately, the prime minister that extended the invite was not re-elected, resulting in Maã and her family relocating to the island of St. Croix. The previous events prompted Maã and Dr. Sebi to create their business, birthing the now renowned company The Fig Tree and the Usha Herbal Research Institute.
In 1980 after giving birth to her third child, Maã fell gravely ill from consuming parasitic-infested water. Although nearing the brink of death, Maã refused to be hospitalized and opted instead for the very herbal products Dr. Sebi and her created. After several doses of the herbal compounds, Maã was brought back to health, reaffirming her belief and further proving the approach to reversing illnesses that she and Dr. Sebi patented 10 years prior was indeed "The Cure" to modern medicine. In 1982 Maã, Dr. Sebi, and The Fig Tree moved to Puerto Rico, establishing the first manufacturing facility producing the herbal compounds that are still sold to this very day.
Throughout the 1980s, while Dr. Sebi toured giving lectures about The Fig Tree's herbal compounds, Maã was overseeing the manufacturing and business operations of the company in Puerto Rico. In 1988 Dr. Sebi and The Fig Tree Health Group won the landmark case brought against them by ultimately proving that the compounds created by Dr.Sebi and Maã have indeed cured many modern-day illnesses that have been deemed incurable. Spawned from the many travels of Maã and Dr. Sebi's global research came the Usha healing village, located in Honduras, Central America. Named after their second daughter Usha, the village was meant to provide a healing oasis to those severely sick or in need of a more regimented nutritional strategy and overall stress relief.
Taking a leave of absence after the separation from Dr. Sebi, Maã took this time to travel and do more research on alkaline foods adding a deeper knowledge of nutrition to The Fig Tree's approach to healing. After traveling for 6 years, Maã returned to The Fig Tree in 2007, focusing on reopening an office in New York City while her two daughters stayed at the helm of the manufacturing facilities in Miami, FL. Today, Maa provides nutritional consultations based on an alkaline food diet and tours doing food demonstrations around the world. In her time of leisure, she enjoys traveling and photography while spending time with her grandchild Isala.
"People know me as Dr. Sebi, but she makes all of the compounds. It is not I that you drink, you drink what Maã makes."
